For the first time in Ramona Karlsson’s driving career, since the tender age of 12, she has had to retire here in Barcelona due to ill health.
Yesterday, day one, Ramona was encouraged and happy with the feeling of the car since the differential and boost problems had been rectified, prior to arrival in Barcelona. Her first heat racing alongside Peter Solberg, JB. Dubourg, & Liam Doram was however cut short early on by to a split throttle cable.
In Heat 2 she was overcome by a sudden and acute bout of motion sickness and dizziness during the entire race which she remarkably completed in spite of this. It was the team’s hope that rest over night would allow for Ramona to continue today. By day break she had not recovered, and advice from the medical team concluded she would not be able to compete in any further heats.
It is of course terribly unfortunate that Team RamonaRX’s Barcelona bid has come to an end prematurely but as repeated exhibited by this team, their spirit refuses to be dented. RamonaRX is already looking forward to their next and final competition in Italy in October.
