Ramona has shown great pace here in Estering Germany. In the heats she completed she gave a solid performance producing competitive times. After heat 1 she was in fourth place of the European Championships and by the end of day one she was in twelfth position on the European Championship leader board despite having received a DNF for her second race.
Her first race today was successful putting her in great standing to make the semi-final but it was not to be. After an excellent start and keeping good pressure on the leader in second place, there was a bit of contact on the first lap causing her to loose the rear bumper but this was no problem. Holding a clear second place she entered the notorious first corner in close pursuit of the leader. Regrettably the car behind gave her a big rear end collision, rode up on the inside barrier and ended up on their side on the opposite side of the corner.
Thankfully Ramona was OK but her car was not. The impact from the back, side and then the front when she was forced into the inside barrier left the car badly damaged.
The race itself was stopped after the second lap but unfortunately for Ramona the restart of the race was too soon to allow for completion of the repairs on her car.
Finishing 14th in the #EuroRX leader board means that she has just missed out on the Semi Final slot. Naturally this is incredibly trying having been in such a good position in her third heat. In reality it is remarkable that with two DNFs out of four races that RamonaRX team has only missed the Semis by two positions!
The times driven in GermanyRX prove that Ramona has the pace and grit to be very competitive and she no doubt will be ready to do it all again in her home country Sweden in Holjes the next round in the FIA World Rallycross Championship.
