It has been a tough day for team RamonaRX here in Barcelona. After sorting out crucial problems with the differential and boost experienced in Solvalla Sweden, Ramona was looking forward to putting the Scirocco through its paces.
In the warm up Ramona was pleased with how the car felt. On the final corner of the last lap, she slightly clipped a concrete barrier leaving the scirocco with damage to the front right wheel. The required repair meant that Ramona missed out on her valuable second warm up practice.
With those repairs now complete, Ramona waited in anticipation for Heat 1, her fast heat that was drawn yesterday. Sadly, on the first lap of this heat the scirocco came to a gradual stop on the first gravel section of the track. A snapped throttle wire had thwarted Team RamonaRX’s intentions for a solid start.
Never faltering, the mechanics made quick work of the throttle wire replacement and once again RamonaRX was ready for Heat 2. All did not go to plan however as Ramona, who was mildly under the weather previously, experienced an unexpected severe case of motion sickness together with dizziness throughout the whole race. Under these conditions it is exceptional that she completed the heat.
On this occasion it will be the driver that will need some healing and mending which the team hopes will be achieved with rest and they remain optimistic for tomorrow.
